Thank you for organizing the class reunion!   This is a great website!
Well - I graduated from UMD - with accounting - not good gpa(too much beer) - so I had to pass the CPA to prove that I actually knew something.    Moved to Dallas and started in commercial real estate accounting.  Worked up the ladder and with that met my husband, David, total sales guy!   We married in 1998 and had our precious son, Cal, in 2001.

Now I am working at a commercial real estate development firm  in Dallas and going part time for my MBA in corporate finance. I just love the numbers - crunch, crunch....

We bring Cal to GR every year to visit family and experience fishing where you can actually eat the fish.   Also, we had our first big winter in MN in January, went snowmobiling and ice fishing.   I miss GR and make it a point for my son to experience up north!

See you in August!

I move down to Tucson AZ and worked for a company called Viscount Air services. we flew a lot of gambling flights and NBA Basketball teams. Occasionally we flew around Rock Groups.  After a year down there I Got Married to My College sweetheart, Lynda in 1994.  2 years later moved to the windy city and took a job with United Airlines in 1996. I currently dispatch flights to Europe and Asia.  With the job I get to see a good portion of the world. Travel is fun but its alway fun to be at home.  We usually go out to Maui every other year to warm our old bones.
In 2002 we added 2 additions to our family.   Twin girl and boy.  Corrynn and Garrett were Born on Aug. 8th, 2002.  So we will be celebrating more than just the class reunion while we are up there.  Feb. 28th, 2005 we had another little Boy,  Wade is 3 and is ball of energy.  I wish I could bottle up some of that energy.

Hello to everyone.  Yes, it has been 20 yrs since graduation but does it feel that way?  Well ya, ok.  Some days it does.  Trying to read all the bios--sounds like everyone has been very busy and have had a lot of experiences.

After high school I went to Moorhead State University for two yrs.  Hung out with Karle E. (Concordia) and Teri S. (NDSU) a fair bit.  In 1990 I decided I wanted to go to U of M--Waseca and get into the Veterinary Technology program and become a Certified Veterinary Technician.  After two yrs. success was mine.  I worked in Cloquet for a few months and then at North Country Vet Clinic in Grand Rapids, where I worked for 7 yrs.  I decided I needed a change and went to a temp job at the paper mill and from there I have had many job experiences.  I currently have a job at BEC and I hope this puts an end to my job searching.

In 1994 I bought a house south of Hill City--directly across from Quadna Mountain--where I have 6 horses, 2 dogs, 1 cat and a flock of chickens.  All of it certainly keeps me busy.

So far, my plans are to attend Fri. and Sat, night events.  Looking forward to seeing everybody.

First off, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE WEBSITE!  It is fantastic. Great job!

You would have thought in 20 years I would have at some point finally decided what I wanted to be when I "growed" up...hmmm.  Happy and a mom, that is all I ever kept coming up with.  The answer is still the same except I have added healthy into the equation for all those I love also.  You dont appreciate health in your family sometimes until it isn't there.

My husband and I have 5 kids.  Kati 21 (no I wasn't pg in school...my husband brought Kati into our family from a previous marriage), Marc 16, Sara 15, Rick 14 and my baby Alex who is 8.  Poor kid, he will be 40 and I will still want to hold him on my lap.  Raising 5 kids has been great and challenging.  I wouldn't trade it for the world.  I was very lucky that until gas hit a billion dollars a gallon and all our kids started driving, my husband worked hard enough that I was able to be a stay at home mom.  Now he works as an HCR carrier in Becida, runs the resort and is owner/operator of his own Auto Repair shop out of the resort.  I run an HCR Route in Bena, help run the resort and sub in the office at Deer River High School when needed.  Our kids work also as no matter what they think I am just unable to sh*t money.  They all want cell phones, cars/trucks, car insurance, clothes, skateboards, snowboards, ATV's, dirtbikes, endless supply of gas and spending $, and well we were all kids we know that the list goes on and on.  So get a job and see how hard it is to earn it and how fast it is to spend it.  This has been a fantastic lesson.  However they still want to only spend our money and hoard theirs if at all possible.  My boys spend like there is no tomorrow (especially on girls) and the younger daughter...I think she would starve before she would spend a dollar of her own money on food even (unless it was sunflower seeds in the shell or Propel).   It is so crazy how different they each are...  I cannot believe I am old enough to have a son who will be a Jr this year!  Now that makes me feel old.

My father had a massive stroke in 99 and my husband and I left our lives in the cities where he managed Cara Collision and an apt complex and we came back home to help run my parents campground/resort and care for my dad.  We came for ONE YEAR...ten years ago.  The place I could not get away from quick enough after graduation, is now my families home and except for the gas we have to use to go everywhere I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.  My dad passed in 2002 and my mom does not want to leave her home so we are at New Leech Lake Campground dead center between Bemidji and Grand Rapids.  My mom still owns it but we do all the grunt work that keeps it going.   I get to see my mom everyday whenever I want.  The kids get to live on the lake and have a huge "yard" and no neighbors to complain about anything.  They can ride bike or ATV, see wolves, bears, deer, eagles or whatever crosses our path for the day.  We do wildlife rehab and usually have some strange critter spending the summer with us.  They meet people of all kinds and have learned wonderful people skills.  I couldn't ask for more for my children.  They would probably ask to live in town in the winter time and be closer to their friends but in the summer, not.  They attend school in Deer River.  GO WARRIORS!  Sorry...

We have an Auto Repair shop my husband runs out of the campground.  Nothing like going out fishing for the day and having your car/truck fixed by the time you come back in.  Yes, he is an absolute workaholic.

We will not be making it to the reunion as the weekend of the reunion we host a Muskie Tournament (Right Tracy & Mike!) at our campground.  It is a fun time, but also alot of work, so it is not an option.

Through the website I have found some people I lost touch with and have thoguht about endlessly over the years.  Thank you again for that opportunity.  I have NEVER ever again made friends like I had in high school.  I miss them so much.

Chris H. does your wife know how much of a nut you and Bob and Randy and Jason and Tom and Jamie were in school?  I tell my kids stories about the stuff you guys used to do in school.  How we would spend the whole hour of Acctg laughing as you guys were so dang nuts!

I am so thankful for the life I have been blessed with.  We do not have lots of money.  We do not have lots of possessions.  Probably never will.  But I have a family who is close and kind and healthy and for me that is just fine.

Hope you all have a wonderful time at the reunion.  Thanks again for the website and the time each and everyone of you has taken to work on it, create and make all this happen.  Hope to see you at the 30.

WOW!  20 YEARS.  THAT WENT BY FAST.  SOMETIMES IT ONLY SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY.  ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE LISTENING TO A GREAT 80'S SONG AND REMINISCING ABOUT THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

ANYWAY!  AFTER GRADUATION I  MET MY REAL DAD (BERNIE) FOR THE FIRST TIME.  I ALWAYS KNEW WHO HE WAS, BUT WAS TOO SCARED TO CONTACT HIM.  I FINALLY SENT HIM A GRADUATION INVITATION AND HE CALLED ME AND CAME TO SEE ME ON JULY 15, 1988.  I WAS TOTALLY AMAZED AT HOW MUCH I LOOKED LIKE HIM, BUT WITH MORE HAIR.  HE WAS UP FOR HIS 20 YEAR FOR DEER RIVER.  HE LIVES DOWN HERE AND THAT'S WHAT BROUGHT ME TO THE CITIES.

I MOVED AROUND ALOT BETWEEN GR AND THE CITIES AND WENT TO ALOT OF COLLEGES, BUT NEVER FINISHED ANYTHING.  STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP!

FINALLY PLANTED MYSELF DOWN HERE IN '91.  MET MY FUNNY MAN,  DAVE IN '92.  FROM THEN ON, WE DID EVERYTHING BACKWARDS.  WE HAD OUR FIRST SON, DREW(12) IN '96.  MOVED TO BLAINE AND BUILT OUR HOUSE.  HAD OUR SECOND SON, TAYLOR(9 1/2) IN '98.  FINALLY GET MARRIED IN 2000 ON THE BEACH IN KAUAI, HAWAII AND THEN OUR SWEET LITTLE ANGEL, HAILEY (7) CAME ALONG.

I WORKED FOR RAINBOW FOODS FOR 9 YEARS AND QUIT TO STAY HOME WITH THE KIDS.   JUST CURRENTLY FOUND A PART TIME JOB WORKING LATE AT NIGHT , BUT AT LEAST I CAN STILL BE HOME DURING THE DAY WHEN THE LITTLE MONKEYS ARE OFF FROM SCHOOL AND RUN THEM AROUND TO ALL THEIR ACTIVITIES.

I REALLY ENJOY BEING A TRUE SOCCER MOM, BRINGING THE KIDS TO BASEBALL (MY FAVORITE), FOOTBALL, SWIMMING, GYMNASTICS, TENNIS AND SCOUTS.

I VISIT RAPIDS ONCE IN AWHILE TO VISIT FRIENDS, BUT MOSTLY GO TO BEMIDJI TO SEE MY MOM.

NOW YOU HAVE IT, THE SHORT STORY OF MY LIFE.  CAN'T WAIT 'TIL THE REUNION.  IT'LL BE GREAT TO SEE EVERYONE AGAIN.  WE'LL PARTY LIKE A 80'S ROCK STAR!

TONI

An adventurous 20 years for all as it would appear from reading all the bio's.  Mine has really been no different.  It does look like I was a little bit of a late bloomer in the marriage and kids department.  I waited until I was 32 to get married, but I started having kids right away then at 33.  I never thought I would have an opportunity to date a 23 year old after I left college but as luck would have it I met the love of my life when I was 30 and she was still a spry 22.  We are 7 1/2 years apart.  It seems like we just went to her 10 year reunion yesterday :-))

Anyway...after high school I went to the College of St. Thomas which changed its name to the University of St. Thomas after my sophomore year.  I graduated in May of 1992 with a couple of degrees (business/economics) I found I really did not have much use for which led me to go back to school and get a third degree in law enforcement.    By 1996 I had my first "real" job with the Minnesota State Patrol.  Twelve years, two hips(got blasted by a drunk driver on duty in 2001), three shootings (two on duty(April 2004 & Aug. 2004), one off duty(Nov. 2002) where my neck decided to get in the way of a 12 guage slug) and countless other what one would call unique to bizarre events, and I am still amazed that I get to get up every day and do what I do for a living.  There are many days that really are bad, but the vast majority of them are indeed good.  My entire career with the State Patrol has been in the Detroit Lakes District (D-2900).  I started out in the Moorhead Station, I live just south of Moorhead seven miles in a small community called Sabin, and I now work out of the district office in Detroit Lakes which is why I will more than likely have to miss the reunion because it is over the same dates as WeFest.  As many of you can attest from your own experiences WeFest is a very, very busy time for the patrol.

My travels have taken me to all the states with the exception of Washington and Oregon for whatever reason, and every Canadian province but the Northwest Territories.  I have hit Ireland, England, Australia and that is it. (Oops... forgot Mexico and the Dominican in the first edition.  My bride and I have done a few all-inclusives.  I guess I must have had too much to drink :))  Good times though, definitely good times!)  My 16 day, 226 mile, white water rafting trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon is the one I would like to experience again with my wife.  My trip to Alaska with my father is the one I would like to experience with my sons and daughter if she so chooses.

I think that many of us have found that growing up in the Cohasset/Grand Rapids area was a great way to start out our journey.  I consider myself extremely fortunate to have a tight knit group of friends from my high school years that I can fall back on if the need arises(You know who you are...thank you again!).  We have all been around long enough now that we all probably know someone who has lost a child, sibling, parent, etc. and having that long lasting support group is priceless.  They can keep you focused on the truly good/happy things in life that keep you going.  The profession I am in is very humbling.  You learn to appreciate the important things and to disregard the small stuff.

Let us all keep it going until our 30th.  Hopefully, I will be able to make that one which is why this is long because I will not be there to tell you in person.  Jen, my wife, really was looking forward to meeting everyone, too.

Everyone have a GREAT and memorable time!!!

Be safe & God Bless,

Chuck

Hello everyone!

After high school I moved to Minneapolis and attended the U of MN to pursue a degree in Journalism, but after some time there I decided I wanted to take some time off. I took a class here and there, dabbled in a few internships, but basically I was working at various jobs. In 1994 I went back to school full-time and became the entertainment editor for a small local paper. In 1995, I suddenly decided out of the blue that I wanted to study abroad. I chose Japan, for no particular reason. I intended to stay in Japan for only 6 months, but while there I found a new passion and decided to start my education all over and ended up staying for 3 full years, ending with a degree (finally) in Japanese Language/Culture and Intercultural Communication. When I returned to the U.S. in 1998, I immediately started graduate school at St. Cloud State, and in 2000 received a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and Intercultural Communication. Right after grad school, I moved to Istanbul, Turkey to teach at a private university. I started as an instructor and worked my way up to being a coordinator in the English as a Foreign Language department. And there I stayed for the next 6 years.

I met my husband (who is Turkish) in Turkey on the first day of work at the university. We immediately became friends and eventually became very close. After a couple of years, we started dating, fell in love, and finally, we got married in 2005. We had a gorgeous wedding on the shores of the Black Sea in the small resort town we lived in just outside of Istanbul. In the spring of 2006, my husband received a job offer from the University of Illinois that he couldn't refuse (he has a PhD in Linguistics), so that summer (while I was almost 8 months pregnant – not too fun), we moved from Istanbul to Illinois. It never occurred to me that I would end up in East-Central Illinois, but here we are! In September of 2006, our precious son, Nathaniel, was born. I could gush on about him forever. I guess I’m still in the ‘new mommy’ phase :) For the first year of his life, I was a stay-at-home mom, but last fall I started teaching ESL again at our local community college. Next year I hope to be in a tenure-track position. In the summer of 2007, we moved into our new house, one which we designed ourselves and had built. So, we will probably stay here for awhile, at least for a couple of years ;)

My time living abroad granted me the opportunity to travel to many fantastic places in the world such as Korea, China, Thailand, Greece, Italy, the Czech Republic and Cyprus (and of course all around Japan and Turkey). Hopefully there will be more to come.

I did return to MN almost every summer for a month or so until 2005 to mentor and teach at an English language camp for Japanese high school students in St. Cloud. After camp I would spend about a week in GR with my parents and a week in Minneapolis with other family and friends before returning overseas.

Over the years I have fallen out of touch with almost everyone from GR, but I am still in touch and good friends with Brian Lehinger. He actually came to Turkey to visit my husband and me a month before our wedding. That was such a great time!

Wow. This got to be very long (my apologies!). I just summed up 20 years! Unbelievable. I missed the first reunion so I'm really looking forward to and hoping I can attend this one. We may be in Turkey visiting family/friends at the time, but if not, we will definitely be in GR!

It's been fun reading up on you all and hopefully we can catch up more in person.
