Hello, everyone:)

From the looks of things I missed a great time to see all of you, to laugh, drink and catch up on everyones lives.  I hope all is going well for everyone.  I was really looking forward to seeing all of you again.  But, from the photos that I have sent in, I was in Jamaica for a wedding.  As you can see I hated it.  Well, until next time, I am up for meeting everyone next summer, please let me know of any get togethers or party's.  If anyone is in the area of Big Lake, MN give me a call/or email me.

I just wanted to thankyou all for your kind words about my husband.. as Tom and Sue said he was always talking about the things you all did to me and the girls... Our girls victoria(14) and Tyler(12) loved those stories and it brings back great family moments when he would tell us about them.. I am afraid he may have given them a few to many ideas for their high school days.... Thankyou so much for the lasting memories you gave him.. them gave him and all of us great pleasure in the last part of his life....
if anyone has any stories or comments about Craig  My girls and I would love to hear them...if you could please send them to Cpapin@hotmail.com.. Thanks again so much..

Wow what a reunion.  I think a have almost caught up on sleep, a sure sign of getting old.  Hope all that had to travel made it home safe.
People in GR, not even in our class heard about all the crazy things that went on at our reunion.  Put it right out there in the open and legends are made!!!

Just like many of you getting home was quite a beating....driving to Duluth to fly to Mlps and then on to Dallas with the flights being delayed wasn't much fun.  We didn't get home on sunday till about 11:30 pm - only to have to wake up on monday at 5:00 am!  ugh!  It was really worth it though!  Thanks to everyone on the reunion committee!!!  You did such an awesome job!  I know it was alot of work but, please know that everyone who attended had a fabulous time!  Thanks to Sherry and Paul for letting Neal and I stay with them at the "Frick Resort"!  We'll definately be back soon.  A very special thank you to Paul, Rob, Bryan (Shannon's husband), Randy & Tommy for making Neal feel so welcome and included!  Our class really is the best!  Neal has told so many people how much fun he had and it wasn't even his reunion!  Now that's impressive!  :)  I too lost my voice and it's still pretty scratchy - should be better by the weekend.  We took quite a few pictures and will get them up loaded by this weekend.  It was so great to see everyone - again we had a great time.....thanks from Jodi & Neal (a.k.a "FNG")

I am looking forward to some of these pictures ending my career in public service!

We talked about doing a golf outing and get-together at Tom's course next year, but I think we shouild avoid repeating this at anyone's place of work.

Thanks again everyone! Class of 88 always has epic parties!

Jeff, are you DREAMING again?  I'm glad that you decided to go.  It wouldn't have been the same without you, ya know!  You and Lisa were a blast.  It was fun to reminisce about the past.  I just wish we could  make it last.  Your ode to Pickroy and the one who needs a big sex toy, you brought to us all much laughter and joy.  Thanks again Beaker me boy!  I still owe you and Lisa a drink.

What a great time!  Especially on the dancefloor....I have to say that Kristen, Theresa and Jon R. had some killer dance moves!  :)  And dancing in the circle just brought me right back to 1988 dancing to "Rock Lobster."  Great, fun, memories!
Thank you , again, committee!

Can I just say how talented and FUN our class is?!  The people I talked to at work today couldn't believe what a fun and extravagant weekend we had.  My voice is finally recovering from singing and talking on the dance floor.  Even after all the time we had it wasn't enough to chat with everyone.  I'm all for a summer get together each year or whenever possible.  It just didn't seem that 10 years could have passed.  I loved the hours spent with my golf team!  I'm not even mad at Steph for showing up my awesome pitch into the cup with her hole in one!  The committee was fabulous and the money spent was DIRT CHEAP compared to the priceless time that I will remember forever!  Thank you ALL for making me feel young and smile! xoxo  Thank you also to Susie M for a great dinner and the comment about Meg Ryan!!

Her hole in one was on 8/8/08 on hole #8 from 108yrds for the class reunion of 1988. I told her to go buy 8 lottery tickets! It was so cool to see everyone and I enjoyed the laughs.

Thanks and a huge round of applause to everyone who worked so hard to make this reunion so much fun! I am taking the day to recover as well, and  I didn't even drink! There were so many people I wish I could have spent more time talking too...but I guess it will have to wait for either the mini-reunion or the 25 year one (will there be a 25?). Oh, and I am so glad I forced myself onto the golf course - I had a blast with Steph, Shelly and Jill. Thanks again - and keep in touch,
Alyn

Paul and I are up for hosting a bonfire bash again next summer we can call it a "mini reunion".  We will look at our calendar and pick a date early so that people can plan on coming.  It was great to see everyone who came over Thursday night and thanks for not breaking anything.....clean up was easy.  A lot easier than it was when we had them in high school at our parents house.

I don't know about the rest of you...but I could use a day off of work tomorrow to recuperate from the festivities.  I don't know which killed me - the alcohol or lack of sleep.  My kids and I REALLY wished we had a teleporter to transport us back to southern MN.  ;-)  Seriously, thanks for all that were involved in the planning.  It was a great time and the ulcer that I was working towards on Friday with the stress of walking into a room of people I haven't connected with in the last 10 (or 20!) years is now long gone.  It was really great seeing you all...take care!

I'm *very* sad to say that we won't be able to make the reunion :(( I was really hoping to, but we just can't make it. We are becoming a host family for an international student and she arrives that weekend, and a few days after that our Turkish relatives will be here for the first time ever (we'll have a full house). We are taking time off for that, so can't take more (both my husband and I are teaching summer school). If only it were a little later in August, everything would have settled down by then and we probably could have made it for sure. Darn! How disappointing! I really wanted to make it, especially since I also missed the 10 year. I hope you all have a fantastic time! I'm sure you will, no doubts. I'll be there in spirit, if nothing else :)) If any of you are ever in Urbana-Champaign, let us know and we would be happy to meet you or even give you a place to stay. Please feel free to email me anytime at swbalci@yahoo.com. I'm not able to be online very much at all these days, but some of the email exchanges I've had with old classmates has been really great and fun (made possible by this wonderful website! I hope it stays active even after the reunion). Take care, Susan

Class of 1988-
In all likelihood, those that have already RSVPed and/or paid are going to read this, but just in case.......PLEASE, if you have plans on attending the reunion--RSVP!!!!  This can be done under the "RSVP" tab.  Also keep in mind, if you are attending the social/dinner/dance on Saturday night you need to pay up by July 31st.   Even if the deadline passes for the dinner, but you are still wanting to attend Friday's meet and greet...RSVP!!!
Questions?? Send them via the "contact us" tab.( or any committee member...)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Paul,

My two oldest daughters are 16, and 14.  They also believe that todays styles are so much better than what we had.   They are also self proclaimed fashion police, and no matter what my wife and I do, their styles are better.

I wanted to ad that I have put some info about Craig Papin in the Military/Veteran page of the message board.   I too had spent time in the military(14 yrs-- medical discharge) , but Craig went over and beyond what needed to be done for his country.  Please check it out.  See Ya in two weeks...Jeff

The 80's are coming back! My wife was so excited at every store we went to today as she pointed out all of the 80's styles! The stores that my oldest HAS to shop at (American Eagle, Aeropostale, Old Nave etc....) all had big bows, flipped up collared polos and more! Of course, my daughter would not admit the 80's had style, as she only will admit that her generation has style.... old people like us could have never had style... well, I didn't but dang it some of you did! :-)

Greetings GRHS Class of 1988`! Your website looks great. Just a bit of information to pass along to you. We had our 20th last summer and it was a blast!! We have decided to do a formal reunion every five years but will have an informal gathering every summer in GR for those that can make it. Just by chance our gathering this summer is on the same night as your 20th. Our class is meeting at Zorbaz on Pokegama lake Saturday Aug 9th at 5:30 P.M. We are expecting a fair crowd to attend and the rumor mill report is that many are heading to your Sat night gathering late in the evening to “crash” in on the party. Your class has graciously offered to let anyone from our class join in on your golf outing in the morning…I am sorry to say none have taken the challenge…fear gets people every time. I am a bit disappointed in my fellow classmates for not stepping up to defend our class. Our class also has a website, it is the same website address as your- just change the 88` to a 87`. Our best to you the class of GRHS 1988` from your upper classmen GRHS 1987` !!

Paul and Janene-

The Flyers DEFINITELY need some representation!  My dad brought some old photos over last year, I will dig 'em out one day soon and see if class stuff is there.

That school seemed so big as a little kid...went by it with my kids last winter, funny how small is looks now.  The Humpty Dumpty inlays on the front wall make me laugh...check it out sometime when you are up there.

Please take an opportunity to look at the MIA page and see if there is anyone that you know how to get a hold of and please call and let them know about the website.  We as a  committee would love for your help.  We only have a few month left before the reunion, so there isn't much time to get the information out there.

Take a 1/2 hour of your day a call a old classmate!  If everyone pitches in we will be able to have a more successful reunion.

I appreciate your help!  See you in August!

Hi everyone-- Amy Becker (now Amy Donaldson) called my cell to tell me about this site as I was sitting in a coffee shop chatting with Ted Raukar and Karen Bouchie (now Karen Menk).  I hadn't seen either of them for about a year-- so it was like a mini-reunion and very fitting to hear about the site with Karen and Ted right there.  I didn't make the 10 year so hoping to make the 20 and get some profile information up soon.  Jake Busching-- it's so perfect that you grow grapes and make wine!!!!  I broke into a smile when I saw your profile.  Alyn (Rossman)--I haven't bumped into you in Minneapolis for quite a while... hope you will be there in August. Jodi (Johnson)-- it's so good to read up on your life!!  This is a great site and thanks to the classmates that have put it together.

I hope everyone is enjoying your website.  Yes This is your website so if you want something on it let me know.  I would like to thank everyone for passing this website to our classmates. We wouldn't have the response we've had without word of mouth.  We are trying to do a lot through the website like sending invitations and  all the details for the 20th reunion will be here.  So keep up the word of mouth to our MIA list and urge the classmate still on the list to Register or RSVP with an email. Even if you cannot make  the reunion please RSVP.

I hear ya - Kind of sounds like something my mom would say.  It would fall under the "just looking out for ya hon" category.

Some people say that we've earned them (gray hairs) - I'd settle for a badge. I think when we see people in their sixties driving brand new sports cars  they're prob saying, "now THIS I have earned!"

Sheesh...I wish I could get by with just picking off the gray hairs, but then I think I'd be bald.  I resorted to coloring my hair when my mother-in-law asked me if I had paint in my hair when she saw the grays standing out.  No fears though...she said "don't worry, it doesn't look funny or anything!".  teehee

Grey hairs: Occasionally when I have found one, I have plucked it but have recently located their hiding spot and mercilessly took out five in one shot .

So, I just had to write and tell you all living up north....it is snowing for the first time all winter here in Dallas tonight!  Samantha (who's nearly 2) saw it after swim school and was just amazed....she said "now mama, now"  She couldn't stop watching it!  It was so sweet!  Well, none is "sticking" to the ground but, it's atleast a few flakes to look at...I know nothing like up there but, it's something.  I do miss the changes of the 4 seasons but, I don't miss the scraping of windshields, shoveling etc....Thanks to everyone who is helping pull the reunion together and Brian for getting the site up and maintained!!!  I really can't wait to come home again and see everyone!  See you in a few months!

Thanks to everyone for organizing the reunion and setting up this web page.

It sure is interesting to see what diverse paths everyone has taken over the past 20 years after we all started on the same path.

I never imagined my jouney after GR would have taken me to Duluth->KS->China->OH->MN->OH->SC and now to Washington DC.

I heard/read about Chuck's incident with the hunter.  Great to hear he is so compassionate.

I plan to be back for the reunion.

Outstanding website.  Took me awhile to get my bio together.  Every time I sent it, I'd find a type-o and felt I had to edit it.   I drove me nuts with it.

Hope you are all well.   I don't see anyone anymore from HS- should be fun catching up.

Great site song - fitting.

I just want to thank Brian Anderson for his great job on the website.  This has been a great tool for all of us to connect and find each other.

I hope that all of the classmates that live in GR will step up and help out with the planning of the reunion.   If you want to help out email me and I will get you involved.

I look forward to seeing everybody in August!

Greetings Everyone~

Shannon (Duell) at our kids school this morning and she told me to check this out.  It's amazing!!!  I will get my Bio and family picture in soon.  I'm still in Grand Rapids, working for an Attorney, married for 8 years and raising two angels or devils I can't decide.  Gaven is 6 and Burgin (sound like Bergen) is 2.  See you soon.

Hey, Scott.

Do you realize Rambo III was in theatres in 1988?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Well, there are definitely some great memories from the past that have already made an appearance on the board.  Hopefully, I will get a bio with a picture of the family uploaded down sometime in the not so distant future.
I managed to make our ten year, but I will in all likelihood have to miss the twenty due to work...sucks being an adult/head of household at times.  I am thinking this board may ease that pain though, great to see everyone doing so well!  I will be in touch.

Nice to see we have a good start to this site! I hope we have many more join in the coming months. My wife's class (Edison HS - 87) re-connected via a web site similar to ours and they have continued to stay in touch since their reunion! How about adding a messageboard so we can really have some conversations? That feature seems to be the most used on her class' site. Now, back to real life, that is until I check back here again to see who has newly joined! Paul

HEY!  CLASSMATES.

WOW!  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT, 20 YEARS.  TIME WENT BY WAY TO FAST AND TO THINK WE'LL BE 40 SHORTLY.  SCARY!

WE ONLY HAVE 7 1/2 MONTHS LEFT 'TIL THE REUNION.  NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO RECONNECT  WITH EVEYONE AND SEE WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON IN THEIR LIVES.  LET'S SEE HOW MANY BIOS WE CAN GET BEFORE THE REUNION.  WE CAN'T LET THE CLASS OF 87 BEAT US.  SO, TELL EVERYONE YOU SEE.  I'LL HAVE JILL HELP ME, SINCE SHE SEES ALOT OF PEOPLE AT THE TANNING SALON.

GOOD LUCK!
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE THIS SUMMER!

It's hard to believe that it has been 20 years since we've been in school. If you haven't had the chance to check out the high school since we have graduated, you would not believe the changes that have gone on. It looks so different from when we went there.
